There’s something magical about downtown Chicago at sunrise. The soft light, the quiet streets, and the skyline slowly coming to life. I met up with Rebecca and Justin just as the sun started peeking over the buildings at The Wrigley Building, one of the most iconic spots in the city. To make things even sweeter, they surprised me with my favorite Starbucks coffee (truly the way to my heart!). We sipped, chatted, and waited for that perfect morning light to hit the buildings just right.
We kicked things off at The Wrigley Building, which is always a favorite for engagement photos in Chicago. Its clean white stone, incredible architecture, and riverfront location make it a timeless and elegant backdrop, especially at sunrise. Rebecca and Justin were so natural together, laughing, holding hands, and just soaking up the moment.
Next, we walked over to the Chicago Theatre, where the glowing marquee made for some iconic engagement photos. Fun fact: both Rebecca, Justin, and I are obsessed with the Basement Yard podcast, and it just so happened they were having an event at the theatre that week! Such a fun, unexpected connection!
After the theatre shots, we headed back to Rebecca and Justin’s apartment for a quick outfit change and, of course, snack on Rebeccas amazing sour dough bread she made! After a little reset, we walked over to one of their favorite local spots: Bourgeois Pig Cafe, a cozy coffee shop with Parisian pastry shop vibes. Between the pastries, cappuccinos, and vintage charm, this part of the session felt like a quick escape to Europe.
This session didn’t just feel like a photoshoot, it felt like a morning with old friends. Rebecca and Justin were so easy to be around, and they brought so much personality and warmth into every part of the day. It was the perfect mix of iconic city locations, personal touches, and genuine connection, the kind of session I wish I could relive over and over again.
